@themtaknowitall i'm guessing up around that area, lexington avenue IS wide enough for 4 tracks. but you see how at 125th, its a 2 over 2 layout right? also, @thesubwaynut is right, the local tracks were built first

@themtaknowitall: @ss04to06. lexington avenue isn't wide enough for a four track layout say like 6th, 7th, 8th avenues. but that's just under lexington avenue. you noticed that once its from grand central southward, its all on one level. the lafayette, 4th ave, centre street are all wide enough

for some reason, there was space between the local tracks beyond 96th street.
-
the local tracks were built before the express ones.
-
It might have something to do with the size of the street but that is just my guess.

the computer aint working
Speaking of the #5 Train, for couple of weekends in February, I haven't seen one running in the Manhattan portion. I have seen the service change notice of #5 Train running only between Bronx and 125th St. For a moment I thought that was a permanent service change. This is temporary, right?

should be, it'd be quite ridiculous if it turned into a permanent shuttle
