Dr. Pennington is the immediate past President of the International Assoc. of Eating Disorders Professionals and helps treat people who suffer from binge eating disorder, she is a national spokesperson for holistic approaches to recovery.
One of the keys to changing self-destructive behavior such as binge eating is awareness and action. Dr. Pennington provides additional tools, such as acupuncture and body awareness work for increasing awareness about a persons unique pattern of self-harm and its origins.
Acupuncture helps to provide support that enables a person to restore natural fluctuations in the nervous system and free them from the compulsion to self-medicate by eating. When the nervous system is at a baseline level, meaning neither too much or too little arousal, a person is in a much more receptive position to use traditional therapeutic tools because he/she is more able to make new choices in this state of mind.
Dr. Pennington's wisdom, energy and candid ability to motivate people to do what they have always longed to do is infectious, which explains why she served as Medical Director and Spokesperson for Discovery Health Channel for over three years and appeared twice on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Dr. Pennington is a dynamic speaker, author and mother of a toddler who knows how hard it can be to balance work, family, a household and personal development. She is a modern day hero for young people to admire and a self-help guru for millions to follow.

Dr. Pennington's authenticity rings true in this video. It was my pleasure to do a media interview with her, and her brilliance is superseded only by her kind and generous professionalism. As a positive psychologist and coach, I believe her somatic therapy offers patients the opportunity to open the door to letting go of negativity that precludes feelings of well-being. Dr. Pennington empowers positivity.

There are different treatments for eating disorders, generally a combination of drug/therapy treatments is needed to help patients. Alternative medicine like acupuncture, chiropractic, and other methods are also used to give relief for patients, generally for reducing stress and anxiety. Thanks for sharing this useful video.
