My personal top 10 list of the best moments of Wagner's Der Ring Des Nibelungen.
At number 9 is the opening section of Die Walküre after the Vorspiel. The sense of Seigmund's fatigue is brilliantly presented, and there are some truly lovely vocal moments from Sieglinde. As the attraction between the two grows, so too does the lustful and rich melody; utterly soulful and deeply moving.
The recording is Herbert Von Karajan's Ring, Die Walküre, recorded in 1966-70.
This scene represents human vulnerability.. maybe the whole opera does...I always get tears in my eyes, when i hear this.. Siegmund and Sieglinde, both will die..this is so sad...
