March 16, 2007 Dives on the RMS Rhone, which sank in an 1867 Hurricane off Salt Island, BVI. The video was shot with a Sony HVR-A1U in High Definition in an Equinox Underwater Housing. The video was downconverted to Standard Definition for the web.

  • were you using a wide angled lens when you shot this footage?

  • Yes. The Equinox housing came bundled with a no-name wide angle lens. I also have a Sony wide angle, but it is too long to fit in the housing. If you use a wide angle with the Equinox housing, you will probably want to zoom in slightly to avoid vignetting. When editing the piece on Avid Express, I cropped the image slightly to eliminate the vignetting. Hope the info helps.

  • Awesome, that helps lots. I also have an equinox housing and was wondering if the vignetting was a design flaw for my housing only. Apparently not though. thanks for the tips

  • I dived the Rhone in August 2007, without a camera. This video is an amazing example of what I saw down there, High quality and really shows whats down there. The best souvenir for me that money could not buy, Cheers guys!!
