Exclusive video of initial tests of the CID-3 Slide Drive, an exotic propulsion concept that moves itself by spinning and sliding weights to generate an unbalanced force. This is based in part on the research and experiments of Bob Cook (1934-2008), who in the latter half of the 20th century patented the first and only inertial propulsion engines actually proven to work.

In this experiment, an electric motor spins the spool (the rotor that contains the weights) to 200 RPM, creating an internal force that pulls the device forward. CID-3 is mounted on castors (like those on furniture) with nothing directly driving them at all. Likewise, the motor and spinning spools create almost no wind at all, certainly nowhere near enough to propel the 125-lb machine in any direction. In this video the prototype moves slightly sideways because the rear castors turned slightly, which caused it to almost run into the batteries to which it was connected.

CID-3 is now fitted with a stronger motor than before that is capable of spinning the spools up to 2500 RPM and beyond. Once tuned up properly, the system at these speeds will produce a terrifically strong and smooth force. Ultimately, it will be installed in a boat and perhaps a car to test the practicality of using inertial propulsion engines to move vehicles.

As this unique technology is further developed, powerful Slide Drives will be able to move boats, cars, and other vehicles without spewing pollution into the air. Also, since air is not required for this engine to work, it can be enclosed and muffled to eliminate the noise.
