Value Bet - Poker Dictionary - What is a Value Bet in Texas Hold'em?

A Value Bet is a bet you make when you are fairly certain you have the best hand. The objective in poker is to lose the least amount when your hand isn't the best, and extract the most possible value when you have the best hand. Value bets can range from a small bet to a shove, and should depend on what you think your opponent will call.
