Adam Young wrote this song for his girlfriend that he loved in high school, but they lost contact, so he wrote this song about them. No, she didn't die. Adam an his girlfriend we in love of course and adam decided to write he a song he wanted it to be perfect

a few weeks later they were going to a concert his girlfriend got into a car crash

and sadly passed on :( adam went into depression but them he remeber the song he work nearly a year or a year and a half on it to be perfect
