Hi my left bunion is quite large and my big toe is just slightly out of alignment but i think my foot would be better if i just got the bone trimmed. Is it possible to get that surgery without realigning the toe?
If so, what would be the healing time of that surgery? ie before running again.
Thanks

Had this done 1/10/11. Have not needed my pain medication at all. Honestly, the only issues have been trying to get around. Crutches are a real PIA! Getting to the bathroom...up the stairs...on my knees, has been the biggest problem. I have pain in my right hip and thigh (surgery on left foot) due to the excessive use. Dr says I will be in a walking boot on 1/24/11. So far...so good...!
why is there no blood?

@TheSherrilee
There is a tight bandage (tourniquet) wrapped around his ankle, preventing blood from going into his foot

I'm almost 8 weeks in, bunionectomy with osteo with plate and 2 screws and had the wire removed close to 2 weeks ago. I would never go through this again....EVER....I'd rather die....I'm so active, and it hurts now to put foot down. It swells a lot at end of day, but I am trying and going slow. I know I am more frustrated than most because I ran 3 miles a day, and the surgery went well, etc. but shit!! I'd rather have the bunion than go through this again.

You had a procedure that required both a plate and screws to fixate. A major procedure You are only two weeks postop and am sure your srugeon told you that a bone takes 6-8 weeks to completely heal. Athletes are always the worst patients because they aften times want to get back to exercise as soon as possible. You wil not be running for another month and you need to accept that fact. Suck it up and give it the proper time needed to heal. If you dont, you will be sorry.

Hi im 17 and i have had them for 3 years now. When is the best time to get the surgery and is it best to have them both done at the same time or seperately

Have them done when the pain is so bad that you need to have surgery. Take 6-8 weeks to completely recover (depending on the procedure performed. I dont suggest havng both done at the same time, although it can be done (again, depending ton the procedure(s) performed).
