VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAKY!!!

There's a place where lovers go
To cry their troubles away
And they call it lonesome town
Where the broken hearts stay [lonesome town]
You can buy a dream or two
To last you all through the years
And the only price you pay
Is a heart full of tears

Goin' down to lonesome town
Where the broken hearts stay
Goin' down to lonesome town
To cry my troubles away

In the town of broken dreams
The streets are filled with regret
Maybe down in lonesome town
I can learn to forget

Maybe down in lonesome town
I can learn to forget
Lonesome town

I second those emotions, Olbia! Yes, I have heard Ricky's version & it indeed is TOPS. You are certainly right about how the original versions are usually the best. And THANKS so much for that "heads up" about those tunes by Dusty Springfield & Marty Wilde! You've MADE my day & my weekend! :)

  • @Olbia64 Thanks for comment. I know the original songs as well but for me the big favorite Shaky....:) Have a great weekend! maria

  • @JubalCalif but Ricky Nelson still tops it. Worth a listen if you haven't heard it. Shaky did some great covers of some wonderful 50's and 60's numbers. I love them all, but the originals are often equal if not better. Check out "Spooky" by Dusty Springfield, and Marty Wilde's Jezebel, Endless Sleep, Sea of Love and Apron Strings - all done by Shaky.
