I love to sing this piece. It is not easy but also not particularly difficult. My biggest problem is that it pushes all the right buttons on me and I have to refrain from letting the emotional content overwhelm me.
It is certainly the very devil to sing, but this version is so beautiful and the clarity of the words so perfectly executed by the soloist that I would emulate his version, stunning though Gerald Finlays version, with that fabulous voice of his is. This chap sure knows how to sing this with perfect clarity, without losing any of the production. My favourite version. Thankyou for putting it up. Gave me enormous pleasure.
I had a dickens of a time with this some time ago. Now, I'm pondering doing again. I have to say, that for this song, so far, Gerald Finley is really the guy to emulate. This is difficult.
@Eurofrank - well, I sang this at our Epiphany service in 2008, and I certainly had fun doing it. And I'll be doing it again at our 9-lessons-&-carols service in a couple of months time. This is the guy to beat haha.

@kapariz44 Seriously though, Gerald Finley (ex King´s College Cambridge) is "the one to beat" here on youtube)

Thanks for posting this. I have been trying to find music from the 1997 year for at least seven years. Absolutely beautiful!
