This is a short clip of the fire that took out Riverview Roller Rink in 1971. The Roller Rink was the last remaining building associated with Riverview Park In Chicago. It was located where Devry is located except it was closer to Belmont avenue.

Some of us that remember the old place are looking for old film footage of the rink. If you have something let me know. If you remember the rink post a story or 2 in the comments.

  • My dad used to work there for many years up until it burned down. He loved that place and would talk about the fun times there. My dad was making me skates which were destoyed in the fire. He also knew Spanky.

  • I lived near Horner Park (Montrose and California), and I remember the smoke and falling ashes from that fire. It must've been really big!

  • My parents took me to Riverview Park and Riverview Roller Rink when I was a kid. Had some fun there. I didn't know the rink burned down.

  • I used to live at Clybourn and Oakley during the early 1960's and early 1970's. It was truely a sad sad day when the park closed and then to lose the roller rink just a few years later. Whomever was responsible for the fire should be ashamed of themselves.
