President Obama's plan to appoint retired Air Force General Scott Gration as special envoy to Sudan was reported today, March 17, 2009. Reports of this development came in shortly after the start of an emergency rally for Darfur that was held from 4-7 pm at the Federal Building in West Los Angeles. Brian Steidle of HOPE, and author of "The Devil Came On Horseback", started the rally by calling out 5 "asks" for President Obama -- an immediate appoint of a special envoy to Sudan was the first ask.
Several Darfuri refugees now living in the United States participated in the rally, and gave their immediate reactions to the news.
The rally followed a period of 6 days that started on March 12, where activists and citizens from Southern California maintained a 24 hour a day "Camp Darfur" presence in front of the Federal Building in West Los Angeles.
Dafuris cry now...but they were once the worst enemies of the rebels to the south...they were helping janjaweed...then northerners realized they needed the western sudan resources and turned on them...no rebel groups were willing or able to help at that point so they r getting slaughtered now...its not right..but cause and effect plays a role in all conflicts...

Poor Sudan. It is full of selfish ,hypocrite people whom rather put their self interest before their country.
Some of them may have a refuge and better life condition than in Sudan plus they get, assistance and freebies(money) citizenship. they couldn't compete with hard working Sudanese they choose easier route.
Good Sudanese are struggling ,waiting patiently and helping build their country. Not wishing it destruction.

kitayabi, i am fully agreed with all of your true statement, i think this is the right time for theseimperialist to stop there propaganda against sudan. put in your mind that i am not supporter of albashir's regime, i know very well that we as sudanese people can solve our own problems without using those neocolonialist activists.

its funny how you stuck up neocolonolist hypocrites, have nothing to say about the 600,000 people that your government killed in iraq or the massacre of Gaza that was done with US weapons, you have nothing to say over the torture your government has subjected inocent people to in guantanamo or abu graib, except you target sudan making no mention that the rebels you suport started this conflict and are refusing to end it.you have politicised the conflict in Darfur at the expense of its people.
