This video has been created to raise awareness about poverty in Singapore. Most Singaporeans don't think there is any, but walking down the busiest road in Singapore I found many impoverished people. The country needs to recognize their needs and support them more.

  • A person dies of poverty every 3 seconds? 1 person every 3 seconds = 20 people every minute = 1,200 people every hour = 28,800 people every day = 10,512,000 people every year Singapore has a population of a little over 5,000,000, which implies that twice as many die of poverty a year than there are people living there. If you’re going to make stuff up, at least make it more realistic.
  • @jsgoyette I didn't make it up... I just didn't realize that I forgot to put "in the WORLD"..... so the statistic was that every 3 seconds someone in the WORLD dies of poverty.

  • who is the girl from the last, is she a one of the stranger you interview or is she one of a member of this???

  • @dexz17 she is the girl that interviewed all the people. She was part of this project from the beginning.

  • That is the reason Nicole Seah want more role in Parliament to help the needy. The fat cats in Parliament are still in denial about the poor in Singapore, and Vivian Balakrishnan quarrel with fellow MPs about giving a dollar a day to our down and out folks. Sylvia Lim opposition has questioned the social morality of our Parliamentarians to quibble over 'small change' while they are so grandiose about big moneys spent on mega projects and their salaries.

  • pap always keeps their eyes on the bottom line ie keeping the economy competitive . they do that by letting market forces rule. sporeans asking for more money than foreign companies willing to pay then import foreigners willing to do same job for less. that is good for the whole but some sporeans will suffer. they do not deserve their pay.

  • @Christopher6849 there really is NOT a huge population of poverty stricken Singaporeans. Look, this video they had to SEARCH for them as if there are "covert poor" she actually had to ask someone on the street :"are there poor in Sing?" some guy "yeah there's poor people.." that's it. And it IS a safe and civilized country! I am GLAD Sing. tries hard for that image. If they don't, it could get ugly look at USA where I am now. Big difference, no one cares about cleanliness and image

  • @kristinloveschevys he said sat/sun, he can't work everyday doing that can he

  • Oh my gosh that poor man at the beginning of video only makes 100 to 200 dollars a day.. how does he survive???

  • @111myrtle Actually, talking about voting people into the Parliament or talking about ministers salary isn't going to even alleviate the problem. Instead of mere critiquing, we should put in more effort and not just money, like volunteering our time to help these people to pass each day. We shouldn't talk as if we had no part to play in this. As someone who advocates human rights, I petition for people to pay more attention to the people around them to at least alleviate the sorrow in poverty.:)

  • singapore very small government very hjigh tech very smart but dont want to manage acutally its quite easy managing poverty bcos they have lesser singaporean who face poverty and easier to find not like india or china or africa or indonesia the country is to big

  • signapore only good at attracting tourism and showing their country as a clean and safe and authorised and civilllized country but treated the locals and the ordiranries like shit very kns kana sai) but they dont care about the poverty they only worry about hygene and economy and damn fucking discipline

  • You should probably travel to India before talking too much about Singaporean poverty. The unemployment rate in Singapore is around 2% whereas in the United States it is officially at a whopping 8% where 15% is more realistic with shadow statistics. There's a reason why expats are coming to Singapore; because it is a great environment for a successful society with low taxes and minimal governmental interference. Convincing the idiot bureaucrats to "do something" will just make it worse.

  • @rutilequartzlight

Also brain need to create own network first before they are able to accept many information. But this is completely ignored in current society that is why there are increase number of ADHD type of children who are sadly damaged by the system.

Children are suppose to give more time to think using own philosophy, own rules and own ability. That make individual differences and that make us genius. We are human and not robot so authority should respect that.

  • @rutilequartzlight

Then TV, Game, Shopping Center and game center are used to entertain children which make them more separate from real natural environment. Then school force children so much information and expect everybody respond or learn same way. That is totally wrong approach. Every human learn different way and pace with different interest so they cannot force to teach anything. Learning come with joy and happiness.
