it's not an air pump. It's an air powered or airlift pump. an air pump is a compressor; the little light yellow or tan rectangular thing on the table

He didn't make anything. Its just a store bought air pump and tubing. He make a tight U-joint but, not AIR TIGHT so that the airflow will blow water up the green part of the tubing. Basically, its NOT an air pump. Nor is it a water pump. Its just a method made up to spit water out of an aquarium with an air pump instead of a water pump. Try to imagine a U shaped straw with no holes. Submerge the bottom in water and blow. Nothing happpens. Now put a hole in the bottom. Theory is water spits out.
