When I filled my tank at the 76 station on Ave 20 and Broadway (Pump #8), the pump kept going even though no gas was flowing.

I reported it to the County Dept of Weight and Measures. I was then informed by an inspector that the meter on that gas pump was indeed "creeping." The likely cause is a faulty seal on the hose assembly, allowing gas vapor to escape. Enough to register when the meter is active.

The station has been cited and the meter has been locked until it is repaired and tested.

  • It's not a problem with Unocal(76). All pumps for all gas stations are built with the same specs. The REAL problem is vapor registering on the meter and being billed to your credit or debit card. Just another scam that we buy (literally) into.

  • Wow, that is truly sick. I really trusted 76 over evil EXON (yet to pay the residents of Alaska their settelment for DESTROYING the coast with oil!!)

This makes me sad, but not surprised.
