A look at the thousands of posters and billboards in Beijing for the first week of November 2006 - when the China African summit took place attended by leaders and representatives of 48 African countries.

In addition to showing some of the celebratory billboards and propaganda, this episode includes interviews with ordinary Beijingers and Africans in Beijing about their thoughts on the summit.

Many countries have been colonized, including many in Europe. Yet some rise up while others wallow in poverty. Colonization per se is a poor predictor of a country's future well-being.

I'd also like to say that China currently possesses the same mentality towards the third world. The US and European countries both helped and hurt the third world in complex ways. China is, and will be no different, though they will not have such a bloody beginning as the Western world did. This, however, is only because of media exposure which didn't have nearly as much influence back then as it does today.

@ilieklolcatz no you cant solve problem by 'paying back'. i think the problem here is, that most of the white world(i'm not saying all) has this mentality that, they are more superior and therefore is in the position to teach people what to do, to lead the world, to be the judge, to interfere in other people's business, etc. it is this mentality that is causing problem. trying to 'give back' what you have taken will not solve the problem because damage has been done.
