It's great that there's a world leader like Hugo Chavez who seems genuinely concerned about the welfare of poor countries, as shown by his providing low cost oil to the Dominican Republic in this news item. He's the one world leader I admire the most.

I'd bet that woman they interviewed about the electricity and is complaining about the service, does not have a meter in her house..Guaranteed! and that's the kind of people they try to get for their negative propaganda!

I dont mean to be rude, and I hope you dont curse me out for saying, but you are in serious need of a socio-world economics class...you need to understand how globalization has and is playing a part into why there are certain countries who thrive and others that do not. It has nothing to do with America being great..its alot more complex then that.
Do you ever wonder why those "hungry ass Africans" are so hungry, but yet they live in a country that has large amounts of natural resources?
Chavez over Bush in a heart beat.

The Caribbean may not be much but both states in Central and or South America would have great potential if they unified. South America has several amounts of resources and other wealth. The only problem is that the United States would continually attempt to destabilize and stop such proceedings by pitting one state against another. Just like how they use Colombia. A democratic and federated South America would be powerful. An so would a unified Central America.
