I read many commentaries about how underrated Slowdive is/was, and bickering about other bands' commercial success. No need to be negative. Let's build our own mythos. If you like Slowdive's sound, make it your life's soundrack, incorporate it into your projects. The band ended in 1995 but they are not forgotten and, what's more, a younger generation discovers them. Their music will endure... they're already legends.
