I think that if I were to get a parrot, I would get an eclectus now. I am just afraid that I would not be home enough to stimulate such an intelligent bird! The last thing I would want is to have a bird as smart as that be lonely : ( It's amazing seeing this bird since most parrots seem to repeat phrases or respond to commands but at times it seems he is leading the conversation! Would you recommend getting a male or female eclectus? From a petstore or a breeder? Thanks!

Thanks for the awesome comments. We have a female but she copies Riley and really talkes too much when in the talking mood somehow with less understanding of meaning. But Riley has bank of words which he understands and uses them appropriately. Basing on my 2 ekkies, I find the male much more intelligent - though others probably may dispute this. I just LOVE Riley....he is the most amazing parrot i've met...so cute. he inspired me to get a baby eclectus! mine is almost 5 months old but doesnt talk yet...hope he will be like Riley...he is just too adorable. cant wait to see more of Riley =)

How old is Riley ? I have a 1 r old eclectus who is starting to talk a lot , wondering if mine will get as chatty as Riley. He is so cute, looks just like my Jack.
