  • @stdavross666: There is an infra-red reflective sensor looking down at the platform at the bottom of the chute. It shines infra-red light at the platform and measures the strength of the light reflected back. The level is low for a black draught, high for a white draught and somewhere inbetween for the red platform (= no draught). Thresholds are set in software to distinguish between the three conditions.
