JU Introduces Matt Kerwick as New Men's Lacrosse Coach

Jacksonville University introduces their new DI men's head lacrosse coach in Matt Kerwick. Here Coach Kerwick shares his thoughts on JU and the lacrosse program he will be building for the 2010 season. Earlier this year JU hired Mindy McCord as their Director of Lacrosse and Head Women's Lacrosse Coach. The men's program becomes the first DI lacrosse program in Florida. Both programs are expected to be wildly popular due to the location of the school and strong athletic reputation for a private division I program. Last year JU won the women's all-sport trophy as the most successful overall women's athletics program in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

I didn't really even listen, but the fact that there's a d1 lax team in Florida is huge for the sport!! I hope it keeps growing, maybe someday lacrosse in the spring will be like football in the fall .... the final four fills up nfl stadiums with around 50,000 fans!
