Besides the silly U.S. name of the game (Dead Dance being the Japanese name of the game), this is actually a better than average SNES fighting game! The characters are very vibrant as well as the backgrounds and everything is amazingly crisp. The soundtrack is also noteworthy and stands out. It has your "Ken and Ryu" characters (Syoh and Zazi) as well as your original characters.

There are more than four fighters for starters, though you can only choose the main four in Story Mode, and each character has their perks (mostly). It's too bad you can't play with upgraded characters in the versus modes out-right; The main characters in Story Mode get more powerful attacks that look sweet and show their rise in power as they make their way to Jade. The blood and most of the Story was removed from the U.S. game. You'll see one form of the upgrade in Syoh's attacks against "Beans", the first "Boss" of the game. Some of the characters are freaky and others are just strange.

This game also has two cool novel features. The first is the Replay feature after the final round. The second is the listing of ten other Jaleco games in the High Score. Enjoy.

  • I kinda like this game eventhough it's nowhere as good as Street Fighter 2.

  • You can play with powered up special moves in vs mode (vs cpu and vs 2 player).

You have to use a code (action reply or so) to get both 1 and 2 player powered up.

But for just 1 player to have powered up moves, just play story mode, get to the last stage (or stage 9) and lose. Voila, there you have it; 1 player with powered up moves.

  • This could be considered quite similar to Street Fighter 1 in its gameplay.

  • Yeah, maybe. But I'll play anything when hammered.

  • This game was fucking terrible
