He might have been drunk... seriously thanks so much for posting this. Sterling Hayden was an awesome dude, an even better writer then an actor. I wish I could have met him.

A new DVD of "The Killing" has just been released that includes this interview in it's entirety running an extra 20 minutes or so.

Back in the 80's this interview was done for french tv program "cinema/cinemas " mainly devoted to the Golden age of Hollywood fims and led by one of the top American Film & Rock Music Expert : Philippe Garnier

Got arrested with Mr. Hayden at a Civil Rights sit-in in San Francisco in '64. Cadillac Row sit-in on Van Ness. Great days.
Good guy.
Compare him with the Hollywood pansies of today.
