if you're having difficulty attracting blue birds, try placing a house on the back side of your mailbox post.. once established, gradually move a feeder with mealworms (10 to15 ft increments) to a desired area that also has a house. remove the mailbox house in winter and they will likely use the one in your yard the next year. it worked for me.

i'm a mail carrier, and the 7 or 8 houses have birds in them EVERY year and several olthers in plastic newspaper boxes.

The only place I can see a bluebird is in a zoo.

That's probably better than the only place to see one is in a museum. People are really stepping up to help the bluebird make a comeback.

thanks for the tips, I have been stressing out about placement, trees you name it...put up first ever box today, more tomorrow and going to get mealworms, really like the idea of attaching the feed tray...thanks! Here's hoping I finally get a chance to see a bluebird for the first time in my life!

I want to attract bluebirds so bad. I have been trying for almost 7 years. I have only seen 1 male, preen on the bluebird house for about 5 mins. I was so excited!!! It flew away and I haven't seen one since. I am going to try the meal worms this year, and hopefuly attract some, since I KNOW they are in our area. You have encouraged me! Thankyou! :D
