  • although the chords are simple his guitar work is dynamic and full of subtleties, it all flows and sounds intuitive, this is great job!! anybody knows where i can get the full performance? I goggled in vain :(

BTW i find that this version is NOT too slow, the lyrics themselves demand for such an interpretation like Barry's one. Although the version from say The Kilkennys "sounds" good, it seems to disregard the story itself in favour of the sole music (chords and melody) imo

  • Baccalaureus79- You can shove yer comments up yer arse! I think Mr. Dodd sings it just fine, always has!

    To Barry-

I enjoyed the times hanging out with you & Ann at Dubliner's Pub, that was years ago, of course.

    Slainte!

  • I like this one, played slowly and a bit more wistful, a lot of bands play it uptempo and the theme gets lost, for me anyway.

  • a great version of this classic song, it always seems to be played too fast in the other versions, it just dont work fast....

  • Funny... he sings "Ole Dage" instead of "Old Age". I don't like his version very much. Strange lyrics, too slow.

  • Great preformance. Thanks GuyFaux2007 for posting it.

  • I sang with Barry last night at The House of Guinness in Waukesha Wisconsin. He and my best friend sang harmony as I sang an Acapella version of Auld Trangle. We talked with him during his breaks and chatted till bar close as well. It was very nice of him to let 2 guys he had never met come on stage with him and sing . He had no idea that we could sing but let us share the stage with him anyway. A true Irishman. Thanks agian Barry

  • i like him

  • can anybody explain me who this woman from Spain could/should be?

  • Sounds great :)

5 start and nothing more to say ;o)
