Anthurus archeri -- fruit body development.

The cuttle-fish fungus Anthurus archeri develops from an egg formed underground. The dark spore mass lines the inside of the red-coloured arms which fold back as the fruit body expands. Flies are attracted o the spore mass and feed avidly upon it.
