IID originated in January 1999 through the United Nations' UNESCO project in order to bring public attention to the plight of children who had been victims of trafficking and sexual abuse. In April 2000, IID was established as an independent non-profit organization under the guidance of our international president and founder, Homayra Sellier. Since then, IID has expanded its initiatives throughout Europe, and now operates in more than 29 countries. More recently, under the leadership of our U. S. Director, Rory J. Cutaia, IID has begun operations in the United States, offering education, advocacy and rehabilitation programs to affected children and their families.
