Build the helicopter in this video for only $230 for EVERYTHING needed to fly.

Watch my thumbs as I fly the helicopter in this video. A couple things to note are how little I move the sticks while hovering, then during aggressive hovering maneuvers watch how much I'm anticipating the helicopter movement with the sticks. EXAMPLE: I'm already moving the stick all the way to the right while the helicopter is still going to the left.

This is part of a video series teaching you how to eventually fly full function 6 channel RC helicopters. This video shows you what the thumbs are doing on the transmitter while flying in a hover, then quickly through transitioning flight, forward flight and even a couple simple inside loops.

  • I don't know about you guys but I always pinch my cyclic control, it makes it way easier to have precise control.

  • @Grinder0909 I tried that...it feels weird - harder to move controls around fast - hard to flick other switches(dual rates, gear, flaps, throttle hold). My fingers have never slipped off the top of the sticks with the sharp metal spiky tines.

  • i just bought 3 heli's. Double Horse Volitation .Blade 120sr and an Esky belt 3D cpx. The Esky will have to sit on the shelf for awhile and look pretty why i get my wings with the other two heli's . Should be fun Happy Holidays Will and Happy Flying.

  • @martyisnuts Awesome, same to you. Funny I recently found my "Air Hogs" heli in the closet and was wessing around with it. This is the heli that started it all! =)

  • @MikeysRC Thumb fliers often hit a wall in their flying somewhere. But, the more important issue is to always use a neck strap. A neck strap holds the bulk of the transmitter, and allows the pilot to relax on the sticks. The DX6i is an especially bulky radio, and younger pilots with smaller hands, will find it difficult to grasp with a neck strap and impossible to grasp without.

  • @daisy8luke Sorry, dude. That's a GOOD simulator.

  • @mapooman Just get the 6 channel and a god simulator. Spend plenty of time on the sim, then start slow and work your way up. Once you get the hang of a good 3d heli, it's hard to go back.

  • @MikeysRC I agree. I use the thumbs on top method, too. Tried the pinch way, wasn't pretty.

  • is it me or has he got the rates well in ? if i moved that much stick input into my heli, it would be pitched sideways headed into the ground...

  • i learned building my helis from you and tony, your vids have been the core of my building skills, so THANK YOU!!

  • i aint ready for 6 channel, im getiin the 4ch TREX 450 for my bday

  • @MikeysRC I just bought a 3ch heli and a 4 ch airhogs helix 360. trying to learn and work my way up to a 6 channel. Have you flown the airhigs helix 360?
