Does everyone who has colorectal cancer have to have a poo pouch? My aunt has one and had cancer of her colon over 20 yrs ago so I was wondering.

No, it depends on the location and size of your tumor. Mine was very near the end of the colon. I also had a lot of scar tissue in the area because of previous prostate cancer surgery. Sometimes it can be beat with chemo and radiation, but it surgery is necessary a colostomy is about a 1 in 8 occurance.
