Art-Tech Mustang P51D RC Plane with Gyro - KeyChain Camera Onboard

The onboard video was done with an £8 camera! The quality is much better than the FlyCamOne2, and the audio seems to stay in sync really well. The plane is a P51 Mustang by Art-Tech. Landing gear has been removed, it flies better this way. Also, a gyro has been added to the ailerons to help with stability. Hand launch and belly-flop landing! As usual, thanks to Sarah for standing in the middle of the flying area to take the video :)

what difrence does the gyro make ?

i have a few heli gyros lying around and i want to put one in my art tec cessna 182 500 class, it has a tendancy to tip stall on aproach or at slow speeds, im hoping to eleminate most of the stall as i only have access to a short runway which i often over shoot because i have to land it coming in hot, what gain and things did you set up? ill be setting mine up remotley via a dx6i computer radio

@puggster The gyro on the ailerons just makes the plane more steady in wind, and tries to help stop tip stall. Basically any uncommanded roll is automatically corrected by the gyro. It will still stall if you go slow enough though. DONT use a heading hold gyro from a heli. Just use a simple cheap rate gyro (look up ebay item number 270709755154 which are the ones I use). And mine are on fairly low settings, about 1 third sensitivity is plenty!

@simio1337 I got mine from Arrow Models online shop. Pop it into Google, its the first one that comes up. They do all the spare parts too.

i have 2 gyros spare, both have or can be put in rate mode or HH ether from the tx computer or via a switch on the gyro, ive heard HH mode is no good for planes, i have a hb401 which is a futaba knock off and a eflite one from a blade 400, both work resnobly well its just a matter of where to mount the thing now lol, i suspect it will have to be on the CG spot roughly between the wings but anyways thanks
