  • Wow, my hometown of Keansburg, NJ was in the news in Miami back in 1979. Wonder if some big event happened there that year (I was only 3 at the time, so I wouldn't remember).

  • Now we have Alica Ortega in the Dominican Republic, an excellent journalist !

  • If WTVJ keeps Ellen at 5, then they gotta add a 4 PM newscast or else, WTVJ is screwed!!

  • You also have a strong Fox station, WSVN. It's certainly a mess for WTVJ and other NBC O&O's.

  • Here in Miami, it is WFOR, the CBS O&O that leads. We dont have an ABC O&O since WPLG has agreed to be one of the few non O&Os to carry 100% of ABCs schedule, ABC has stayed away from here.

  • Great point. ABC O&O's lead the majority of the top DMA's.

  • NBC has let got like 5 long time personalities at WTVJ. I believe all NBC O&Os are low rating right. Their highest rated is currently WRC in DC which at TIMES is #1. WVIT in Connecticut is often #2 in its market. The rest of the O&Os are all pretty much 3rd or lower in their respective markets.

  • Oh ok I guess from what I've heard WNBC was very popular back in the 90's with Matt Lauer and Al Roker. But anyway, all I know is that in New York they've been dropping down lower into the ratings lately and have also tried dropping the 5 PM newscast. Plus they let go long time sports reporter Len Berman. I personally love NBC but it's so sad to see stations like WTVJ no longer on top

  • Well WTVJ went from the top. WNBC was never on top, they have almost always been 2nd place or more.

  • Oh ok I gotcha. Yeah I've read that the signal from Miramar on channel 6 is a considerable amount weaker than WFOR's. For some reason stations think it's a good idea to cancel that 5 PM newscast; no clue why lol. But it's a shame that proud news stations like WTVJ and WNBC have fallen so low in quality and viewers.
