Ghana lost the race to Cote dIvoire as the worlds top producer of cocoa in the late 70s -
but its planning a come-back. As one of the major cash cows, the cocoa industry employs 17% of the countrys total labour force and contributes around 8% to GDP.
After years of exporting raw beans, the focus is heavily on value addition.

  • I WISH THAT MORE PEOPLE WOULD TAKE NOTE THAT GHANA HAS DONE MUCH BETTER THAN OTHER AFRICAN NATIONS.CHRONIC UNDER INVESTMENT IS MAKING AFRICA VUNERALABLE TO OUTSIDE INTERFERANCE. LACK OF REAL DYNAMSM AMBITION TO GET THE BEST POSSIBLE DEALS FOR THE NATION AS A WHOLE IS LACKING IN ALL AFRICA.THAT SAID GHANA IS A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE TO OTHER NATIONS IN TERMS OF ITS CIVIL SOCIETY,REGARDED AS BEING MUCH SAFER THAN MOST IN THE REGION.HER OIL WILL NOT BE MISMANAGED IN THE WAY IT IS BY NIGERIA TODAY.

  • Ghana needs to go into the processing of its cocoa crop. We need to squeeze as much revenue from the cocoa crop as possible!

  • @malfini1 This is what i have been saying for years however the government of ghana unfortunately does not invest in its people so far most foreign currency has been used to build useless tourist hotels instead building the infrastructure needed for longterm growth.

  • Ghana God has bless in Africa America help us let our dream come to pass

  • @jamaicangoodguy oo say it again oo.. .thank you!

  • @malfini1 Ghana should learn everything about Nigeria oil problem first before they sign any contract, they should not be rush into signing any contract they don't know, they should also make sure they read all the fine print in the contract, make sure they understands it b4 signing it, I Know they has started pumping the oil by now but it's even better now to go through those contract again because what happen in Nigeria should not happen in any part of Africa period.

  • @malfini1 yes o, Ghana should everything about Nigeria oil problem including the fact that Nigeria use be the largest export in Agriculture but they abundant it for oil, everybody wants oil money, that what led them to all source of corruption and evil act, If anyone should look at Nigeria history of corruption you'll know that their corruption started after the discover of their oil however, I know Ghana ppl are so prayerful, so lets just pray hard that this new found oil will bring prosperity.

  • ghanian leaders. don't be taken by small contracts that feed only your families with wealth. the white man is betting that you will sell your people and power this way. this is the problem with lagos. the world has no respect for nations that do this. Make contracts that will change ghana for the better. creating jobs, building a new infrastructure. Leaders you can put your hands in many of your own investments. and get rich. but don't sell your people to the world bank. tourism will boom there
