I don't know if it's just me, but sometimes i get the impression that Mireille was the woman who understood him better, more like a friend...but anyway, i still want to believe that Romy was the love of his life.

Yes I think he was really in love with each of them, at different stage of his life. And between him n Romy, and him n Mireille, there is really something special, bcoz he cares abt them deeply. He and Mireille especially, they really "click". True soul mates.
