Visual Effects Demo Reel HD: Freddy Chavez Olmos (2010)

Motion Pictures and Film Visual Effects Compositing Reel by Freddy Chavez Olmos, co-producer and co-director of the anticipated horror short film "Shhh".
Freddy, originally from Mexico, is a graduate of the Film Production program at the Vancouver Film School in Canada. Interested in learning more of the Special Effects techniques, he went to Los Angeles to pursue Makeup Effects at the Cinema Makeup School. After graduating, he was accepted into the Advanced Prosthetic program led by the legendary "Godfather" of makeup effects, Dick Smith whose past protégées include mexican director, Guillermo del Toro and academy award winning makeup artist, Rick Baker. Freddy was selected as 1 of 8 contestants to compete in the International Makeup Artist Tradeshow in Pasadena, California and gained an Internship at MEL (Makeup & Effects Laboratories Inc), an award winning effects studio in North Hollywood.

With Vancouver quickly becoming a hot spot for film production, Freddy decided to make it his permanent home. He continued expanding his traditional effects background by gaining more digital knowledge; completing his Studies in 3D Animation and Visual Effects at the Vancouver Film School. His talent in Visual Effects has afforded him the opportunity to work on critically acclaimed and Academy Award nominated productions such as District 9, Tron Legacy, Watchmen, The Incredible Hulk and The Dark Knight. He is currently compositing creature work for the 1982 horror film prequel "The Thing". He has worked at world renowned Visual Effects studios Image Engine, Prime Focus, Zoic Studios, CIS and Imax. He has also worked as Creative Developer for Music Videos for production company Triton Films.

Freddy's combined experience in digital and makeup effects has led him to pursue a career in writing and directing; collaborating with many of the creative and talented colleagues he's met along the way. "Shhh", the latest work he's co-writing and directing, will be his greatest achievement yet. Freddy is currently writting his Feature Film debut.
