This is the garbage power plant in Darmstadt. It is also used to power up the central heating. What is interesting here is that the filters are so good, that the power plant was built inside the city. There are apartment buildings right accross the street and the pollution is minimal.
If your thinking of having Waste-2-Energy com plants, please visit our website. Waste-2-Energy com is not burning the waste, but use it via Pyrolisis so there is no real emission, needs very little human resources, it is sustainable and has no impact on environment.
Why do you guys get excited about burning things that could be reused or recycled? Personally I think it's not a good thing to do (apart from the health hazzard of the PM2.5's, the waste of resourses, the damage to tourism, etc, etc) as more jobs are created in recycling. So it is madness to have incinerators. The producers of non-recyclable products should be fined.

Do you guys in Germany have Der WienerSchitzel hot dog stands? How about the Der WienerDog mascot?
Looks like a clean power plant in a clean nice city. Kudos to all involved.
