Great video on the fiador throatlatch. Great to use with the mecate and bosal. Very informative.

Howdy,
Sorry to be so critical but you are wrong about the twin loops that come out the front of the heel knot too. They are there to feed the lead portion of the mecate through. They help to have a better effect through the bosal when you need to lead the horse. They do not go around the mota of the mecate like you show here.

@sagehorseman Thank you so much for your response.. You are so correct, I have seen many horseman & women do it the way you describe also. I have always liked the lead of the mecate to be tied to come out the under side of the bosal towards the rider...

Howdy,
Well, not a bad job but not really correct either. FIrst off, the knot that goes around the heel knot of your bosal is called the heel knot (hackamore, jug or jug handle knot). The actual fiador knot is the one up higher on the fiador, the one that creates the split for the actual throatlatch portion of the rig. The other thing is that the fiador as you have it on is too lose and will not serve the purpose of helping to keep the hackamore on and to help it hang correctly on the horse.

@sagehorseman well I am sure you are correct again, I do recall that knot being called a heel or jug knot also. We always encourage dialogue on such a great passion of ours...
