T-Gauge model railway PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) speed control using a 555 timer on the MERG (Model Electronic Railway Group stand at the Aberdeen Model Railway Club Exhibition 6-7 November 2010. www.merg.org.uk
Hi, Just constructing one of these using the picaxe micro controller. Will be programmable to suit loco and adjust inertia as required. Do you have heating problems? What is your supply voltage? thanks
Hi, I was concerned about heating so I used the exhibition as a 'kill or cure' test. Both 103 units survived from 9 am until 5 pm, My suspicions (can't call them conclusions yet) are that heating was not a problem because (a) there was no load from unpowered units and (b) I ran them very slowly so there were long gaps between the short pulses of current. The voltage at the track was about 4 to 4.5 V, too much lower gave unreliable running.
