Comments and suggestions please...... This video is of Moone High Cross in Co. Kildare. This high cross is well worth a visit. This high cross is one of two surviving here. This one here is a complete example and there is also a fragmentary example. Sources for this material were the information signs at the site, Peter Harbison's Irish High Crosses (1994), Paul Mulligan's Short Guide to Irish Antiquities (2005), Peter Harbison's The High Crosses of Ireland Volumes 1-3 (1992) and Guide to the National and Historical Monuments of Ireland (2001) also by Peter Harbison. Take the M9 from Dublin or Waterford (exit Ballitore, Athy Castledermot). On leaving the motorway head for the village of Moone which is signposted all the way. On reaching the N9 turn right turning for Waterford. Pass the first junction for Baltinglass on our left, pass a small cul de sac and after this take the exit for timolin and moone to your left. Go through the village of Timolin and enter the village of Moone. On reaching the post office on your left turn right through the gates on the right side of the road. Follow this road crossing the N9. After the bad bend which sweeps to the left a stone wall will appear on your right hand side. Park here and go therough the styl. The high crosses are in the church in front of you. From Carlow take the N9 through Castledermot. Take the right turn for Moone just before a bridge over the N9. he road winds around and reaches Moone village. Turn left and you will see the post office on your right. Turn left at the post office through the gate and follow the directions as above.
I know you :)
