PADMASHREE GURU GANGADHAR PRADHAN :

Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, Founder-Director of Konark Natya Mandap is a teacher, performer choreographer and a Mardal player who earned name and fame in the international arena in the field of art and culture. He created an environment to flourish different art forms of India by organizing dance and music festivals in this part of the world. Most of the reputed dancers in the field of Odissi dance have been receiving training under him. He is a recipient Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India. For his outstanding contribution President of India honoured him with the highest award Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1998.


Guru Sri Pradhan is the first person from the field of Orissan art and culture who has bestowed with the prestigious assignment of teaching at the famed Cornell University, USA as a visiting faculty. He was the President of Orissa Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2006-07. He is conferred the Padmashree Award by the Govt. of India. Humbleness has been the key to his success.
