Columbia Mo SWAT Raid 2_11_2010. Cops Shoot Pets With Children Present!

This video shows a search warrant served by the Columbia Mo. police department. The cops bust in this guys house in the middle of the night and shoot his two dogs (one a pit bull that was caged in the kitchen and the other a Corgi) with children in the home. it turns out that rather than a big time drug dealer, this guy had a small pipe with some resin in it, a grinder, and what the cops here call "a small amount of marijuana" (meaning less than a few grams). We here in Comlumbia want everyone to know what kind of police department we have here, check out our "finest" in action.

After the outrage that followed the release of a video showing the Columbia, Missouri police using deplorable tactics during an ultimately fruitless marijuana raid, the citys police department has announced that they will be changing their SWAT policies.

While the officers involved have not been disciplined, future raids will be conducted immediately after the warrant is obtained, and every effort will be taken to determine the level of force necessary. Supposedly. There was no indication, however, that SWAT raids would be discontinued in the enforcement of marijuana laws.

So does this policy change go far enough? While it is certainly a step in the right direction to have more transparency and accountability for law enforcement, the fact that military-style tactics can still be used against American citizens, whose sole crime is possession of a relatively harmless plant, is unacceptable. Killing family pets is unacceptable. Putting a child at risk to make sure some unspecified amount of marijuana doesnt get flushed is unacceptable.

The Columbia City Council is meeting May 17 to hear from community members who recognize the need for change.

Someone please contact this family if you know them and have them set up a Facebook page with there story. Word needs to be spread that cops are doing this and it needs to stop! It will get attention if they word it starting with Justice for (dogs names). If they don't have an account please set one up for them if you know who they are.
