SMU families celebrated Family Weekend 2011 where the weekend theme was "SMU: It's a State of Mind." Parents, Student Affairs Vice President Lori S. White and Cinema-TV Chair Sean Griffin were among those interviewed.

"The Texas theme really works with everything we have planned, from the Dads' Club barbecue to Cowboys Stadium tours," said junior John Angle, chair of the Student Foundation committee that is coordinating the events.

The weekend also included a luncheon co-sponsored by the Mothers' Club, departmental open houses, a student talent show and tailgating on the Boulevard before the game against Northwestern State at Ford Stadium.

"Family Weekend is one of my favorite traditions," said Angle, who is an accounting major in Cox School of Business and a history major, with a Spanish minor, in Dedman College. "It's a chance for students to introduce their families to their professors, friends and SMU spirit, and for families to make great memories together."
