Timelapse film taken at Hatton Lock, Warwickshire, in January 2009. Footage shows British Waterways replacing lock gates as part of its essential annual maintenance programme on 2,200 miles of Britains canals and rivers.

If they keep slamming them like that - not very long at all.
Correctly used around 25yrs or more. Less if poorly maintained or damaged in use.

Wow, you don't realise how much of the gate is below water. Went through the locks last week and noticed the 2009 plate on the gates.
