How to install Nagios Community Edition 3.2.2 on Ubuntu 9.1. We will be installing Nagios via OMD and the GDebi installer. OMD is the Open Monitoring Distribution that was built on Nagios but includes the following software:

Nagios 3.2.2
NagVis
PNP4Nagios
MK Livestatus
Thruk
Nagios Plugins
and a ton more..

1. Download the package from http://omdistro.org/downloads
2. Install the package
3. Open a termail and run the following commands:

-sudo -s
-omd create mysite
-omd start mysite

Note: you can change 'mysite' to whatever you like. It will be how you reference your monitoring system.

Once you have the OMD started go to:

http://mycomputer/mysite

The user name is: omdadmin
The password is: omd

From there you have option of what software you would like to load. You can also begin customizing your open monitoring software at this point..

Thanks to the developers at OMD !!
