Commercial seal hunt? Politician sticks to "Inuit Sob Story" easy soundbite.

The COMMERCIAL seal hunt has cost Canadians over 465 million dollars in lost sales of our seafood. Worldwide outrage over Canada's horrific COMMERCIAL massacre of seals is leading 3,500 business to boycott any and every seafood from Canada. The slaughter is worth aproximately 12 million. Through what stretch of the imagination is this sustainable when a 12 million dollar industry leads to 465 million dollars in lost sales for Canada? Small fishing families are HURT by the seal hunt more than they could be bennefitted by it. But Michael Ignatieff of the liberal party wants it to continue and sticks to the basic "Inuit sob story". Nobody is talking about Inuits. We are talking about the COMMERCIAL seal massacre. Shame.

Thanks for posting this. You should know that this is not just ignatieff's personal opinion, but it has been the stance of the Liberals all my life. They do not face the commercial seal hunt and make it a First Nations issue. The Cons are worse. Remember this and use your vote wisely.

What do you mean "fake" ? You need to wake up and realize that the vast majority eat meat. And in slaughterhouses cows have their skull fractured and they are bled out, just like the seals, whose meat is consumed in Newfoundland/Labrador.

Even vegans like you are responsible for the death of countless animals. Animals are displaced out of their habitats for farmland and some are poisoned, tapped or killed by cats or dogs to protect the crops on the field and in storage.

There has been no impact when in comes to the "seafood boycott".

The United States has suffered more losses than Canada since the "boycott" started in 2005 because of worldwide trends and the economy, yet they aren't being "boycotted" over their seal hunts.

The vast majority of the boycott supporters didn't buy Canadian seafood in the first place so it failed, miserably. Vegans, vegetarians and local seafood supporters made up the majority in that "boycott".

Oh, so the Inuit weren't hurt by the American ban years back ? And they aren't suing the EU because they weren't consulted about the "exemption", which limits their ability to export their furs to the EU like the American ban blocks them from exporting to the states ?
