The purpose of the trip was for a delegation from the STUC General Council which included FBU officials, to visit the Region and investigate the merits of calling for a Boycott, Dis-Investment & Sanctions Campaign (BDS) against the State of Israel, as a way of showing solidarity with our Comrades in Palestine. This came about as a consequence of a number of Motions to Annual Congress over the past few years, from various Unions, calling for BDS, but with other Unions opposing, due to being concerned that such a move may compromise or adversely affect Palestinian workers.
