The first season opening credits never included the professor or Mary-ann. I believe Bob Devner argued on their behalf and they were added to the other seasons intros. It sounds better with them in the credits than this one. This one sounds like the singer made a mistake and forgot them and cut it short.

@MrSlitskirts Mystery Science Theater 3000 the movie they were making fun of a movie from the 1950's called "this Island Earth" which happened to have Russel Johnson who played the professor on Gilligan's Island playing a scientist. the first time you see him on screen he calls out to a woman scientist & one of the MST guys adds in "What's this And the rest crap!" they made Gilligans island jokes the whole time he was on the screen.
