Cusco, Peru was our first stop on our way to the Inca Trail to hike into Machu Pichhu. Cusco is the oldest, continuously inhabited city in the Western Hemisphere and is also one of the highest in elevation. This video features the music of Kuntur Taky, a Peruvian musical group we had the pleasure of watching perform in Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu.

  • I moved away from Cusco at the end of 2007 and this brought a tear to my eye just to see where we used to work every day. If only I could afford to go back. Who knows?

  • I hope you can make it back in due time. It is truly one of the unique cities of the world. The Plaza de Armas, the friendly people, good food and high energy were all great reasons to return.

    Good luck!

  • NIce job on the photos! This brings back great memories

  • I think that everyone who hikes the Inca trail has to start out in Cusco so I thought you would like the reminder. What a cool city! Very much like our hometown, Santa Fe, New Mexico, back, say, 30 years...
