Music from Australia and New Zealand in the year 1983:

JPY's promo-video for the hit single 'Soldier Of Fortune' (Manhattan Transfer cover - September, 1983), taken from the 1984 album 'One Foot In Front'.

Note: This was John Paul Young's comeback hit single in the 1980's - sadly, it was also his only hit in that decade. There's quite an ugly story attached to his 1984 album 'One Foot In Front'.

  • $5 music video, Real bad video for a good song. Must of thought to get some old home movies to make this lol

  • i agree... very good song but what a naff video. I can almost compare this video to many Aussie television commercials coming out at the same time this song was a hit. Take the music away, replace JPY with Peter Brock and presto, you've got an early 80's Bridgestone ad!

  • @nzoz1983 just look up the original Holden VL commercial and voila.

  • @gav240z yep, that too!

  • The 80s were great! Great time for music. You might laugh at the fashion or the music video productions from that decade, but 80s music was the shit and still is.

  • Flukin Great clip. so many memories attached. tah for posting!

  • My Home where the Emu's run

  • Is there more than one version of this song because I seem to remember the version playing on the radio back then sounded a little different to the one that is 'out there' (and not because of the mushiness of the AM band signal)

  • Wheres the love it button?!!!

  • Love the pinnacles!

  • is it just me or the lips are out of sinc

  • A exellent song clip is ok but it has nothing to do with the song it is just images of our great country and John insome very average 80's gear. I have this plus the extende mix on CD the album was called the War Years as in (Warner Music).

  • I cant believe how hard it was to find this song, i had to order an lp single from Germany then transfer it on to cd, thats how much i like this song though

  • After almost a year i have found this song on a cd here in Oz :)

  • This song was a hit in some European countries.

  • LUV IT LUV IT
