In 1968 The Beatles taped (and filmed) two performances for British and American TV. Two media were used because of PAL/NTSC issues (it's much easier, and provides better quality, to shoot film and transfer it in either NTSC or PAL than transcoding PAL to NTSC or the other way around. This was more true in 1968 than today.)

This is the first performance from the video version of the shoot. Originally in PAL, it's been professionally transcoded to NTSC for The Smother Brother's Comedy Hour, October 13th 1968.

  • They don't bow at the end of song.

  • looks lik george is sayin john smells like shit lol

  • At 0:13 seconds, it's dark. We can vaguely see silhouettes of 4 people. Slowly, the lights go on and the 4 chosen ones sent from heaven are revealed to us, and let the music play. As powerful and awesome as any debut to any song.

  • Being a pedant, the keyboard solo was by Nicky Hopkins, not Billy Preston. Greatest B-side ever. Remember them?

  • They took the instrumental from a recording but sang the words while playing. Same with Hey Jude. Many bands did the same.

I still love watching these two vids though cause it was a rare performance.

  • 2:19 John Showing us how he sound when Having sex!

  • I love this

  • Interesting - they played along to a tape ( Billy Preston's solo wasn't played by George! ) but they kept the Mics open and mixed it in too.

  • BOW SHOOBIE DOO WHAP!

  • to settle the debate..:) the music is from the album, they are singing live..:)
