The chimes on this one sounds just like a grandfather clock chime with the striking gong sounding like the grandfather clock as well. Usually bracket clocks has chimes and the strikes like on a regular pirate's hat shaped mantel clock.

I have the exact same clock. But mine has a small column on each side. My only problem is that the small metal piece on the bezel that goes into the clock to keep it closed has cracked off. I'll have to solder it back on. Otherwise it runs,keeps time and chimes beautifully. I wonder when it was made? If i could only have one good quality clock. This one would be it!
